So, if you're feeling a little disconnected from your spirit and want to connect with a greater sense Self, try this consciousness expanding movement - great at the end of an uplifting workout. It's also good to do for 40 consecutive days, to deepen the experience.
Tutorial Sit comfortably in a chair, with your feet flat on the ground; or sit crossed legged in easy pose on the floor.
Tune in for a moment with your eyes closed, and connect to the Divine teacher and wisdom within you.
Lengthen the spine by reaching the top of your head toward the ceiling, and bring your chin down slightly to open up the back of your neck
To begin, bring your right hand into Gyan Mudra, the hand posture of wisdom, with the thumb and forefinger gently pressing together (think acupressure point). Let the back of your right hand rest on your right knee, palm facing up. The right arm remains straight.
Bend the left elbow and raise it to about shoulder level and place the left hand, palm facing the body, 6 inches in front of the heart center. Fingers are together, pointing to the right.
Relax the shoulders and close your eyes.
Inhale deeply. On the exhale, float your hand in toward your chest, so that it’s about 2 inches away from the body and say "I AM", connecting deeply to your "finite" self.
While continuing to exhale, float the hand straight out from the heart about 12 inches away from the body and repeat "I AM", connecting deeply to your "Infinite" Self (the Divine; Your Higher Self). Sense a feeling of expansion here.
Inhale deeply through the nostrils and return to the start position, and repeat, continuing for 3-11 minutes.
Pointers Keep your shoulders relaxed throughout.
As you move the left hand, keep your left elbow and hand lifted to the shoulder/heart level.
In the first "I Am" connect deeply to your sense of Self, the clearly create a sensation of expansion as you move from the first "I AM" to the second "I AM", connecting deeply to your Infinite Self.
