It is said that a mind makes a terrible master but a great servant. Well the trick, many say, is allowing the ego to stay in check. If left unchecked, the mind can cause all sorts of problems. We suggest adding this breathing technique as a Healthy Habit to do first thing in the morning, as part of a wake-up series of exercises. The Breath of Fire will clear out your cloudiness and fire up your engines (the rhythmic breathing patterns massages the adrenals and vital organs, and helps with digestion, and breathing through the nose works to keep the nervous system balanced).
Tutorial
Sit in Easy Pose (cross-legged on the floor). This can also be done in Rock Pose (sitting on your heals) or seated in a chair, feet flat on the ground, with a tall spine
Raise your arms up to 60 degrees out to the sides
Bring your fingertips to the pads of the fingertips, and extend your thumbs straight up
Add breath of fire and continue for 2 minutes
To end, inhale deeply and bring your thumbs together over your head until they touch. On an exhale, open your palms and sweep your arms down & out to your sides (use your imagination and visualize sweeping your magnetic field clear of any negativity)
Take a moment to feel the lighter energy you have created with this breath and posture
Pointers
Keep your shoulders relaxed, and the shoulder blades moving gently together and down the spine.
Keep your arms straight - no bend in the elbow at all!
Keep your wrists moving back, rather than slouching forward, to keep the energy of the heart open
